Meet our new Client Partner of CMT – Jan De Mont

Mats Johard
Mats Johard,

Introducing our new Belgian addition to the Sweden office with the aim to ramp up our Cognizant brand in the Communications, Media & Technology (CMT) market. With a solid background in complex sales within the industries Telecommunications, Retail and Financial Services, Jan is ready to take on the challenge!

Can you tell us about your new role?

I am Cognizant’s new Client Partner for Communications, Media & Technology (CMT) in Sweden. As a Client Partner I set the strategy, own the overall client relationship and am accountable for P&L for the clients in my sector. My focus will be to help expanding our strong presence and repositioning the Cognizant brand in Sweden’s CMT market, as we ramp up our drive towards becoming the preeminent technology services partner in the sector.

What is your previous experience prior to Cognizant?

I am a seasoned executive with a broad background and proven track record in driving complex sales, delivery and account management within the Nordic IT landscape. I built up most of my 20 years of work experience in the Telco industry. However, more recently, I have broadened my horizons to other segments, such as Retail & Services and Financial Services. Previously, I worked at TietoEvry as a Customer Executive for a number of FinTech customers, helping clients to transform and digitize their businesses.

What are you looking forward to the most when the pandemic is over?

Being a Client Partner, I thrive when I can meet customers, preferably on a daily basis. I really look forward to meeting customers and colleagues in real life again. Of course, this applies to my private life as well, and I want to be able to meet family and friends a lot more. Travelling abroad and experiencing new cultures and places is also something I miss enormously.

What has been your major challenge when working during the pandemic?

Work-life balance and monotony. The differences between work and private life have become less clear and life is lacking in variation when you spend most time in the same place with the same few people.

In your opinion, has there been a positive outcome despite the circumstances?

Yes, of course. Digitization really accelerated due to Covid, everyone is using video in online meetings nowadays. We got a look into everyone’s homes, dress codes have become a lot more casual, and I really don’t miss traffic jams.

What do you enjoy doing when not at work?

I prefer to spend my spare time on different types of bikes, preferably off-road in the forest or in the mountains with friends and family. As a Belgian, I always appreciate some nice food with a good beer and great company.
