Ulrika Mann

Ulrika Mann,

A sustainable business creates profitability and new opportunities, but how do you get there? One of the corner stones in any sustainable business development, and an essential piece of the circular economy, is efficiency, according to author and expert Gunilla Östberg. Welcome to Snapshot on 23rd May to learn more from both experts and enterprises ahead in the journey.

Sustainable companies are more competitive and profitable than other companies, and they are better equipped for the future. However, turning into a more sustainable company often involves long-term strategies and change processes. How do you do it? In what way does it create value for companies? How have others done?

Gunilla Östberg’s book Sustainable business (Hållbara affärer) covers this matter. In the book, she merges her tech and industry knowledge to help companies create competitiveness, growth and profitability based on long-term sustainability. With 30 years’ hands-on experience from leading business positions in various industries, she knows there is no silver bullet:

“Many have hopes when it comes to new innovations, but a sustainable future can’t be built on emerging technologies only,” says Gunilla Östberg. “It also needs to include streamlining of existing processes to make them more efficient.”

On basis of her experience, Gunilla Östberg will moderate a session in the Cognizant Tech for Good series: Efficiency for Good. Here, we’ll look at efficiencies as a means to build a sustainable company and to affect the surrounding ecosystem.

Three profiled speakers will share their stories:

  • Mats Pellbäck Scharp, Head of Sustainability, Ericsson. Ericsson has reduced its own emissions by 50% and sees significant potential in other industries. Can 5G and platforms facilitate new digital ecosystems and more sustainable companies elsewhere?
  • Maria Smith, Senior Manger Sustainability Strategy, ICA. As Sweden’s first grocery retail company, ICA’s climate targets were recently approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative. How do you increase the sustainability effects across the supply chain?
  • Olle Steffner, Director IP Management, BillerudKorsnäs. AI and digital transformation are important parts of its strategy for sustainable solutions and a profitable growth. How do you realize transformation with smart tools also outside the company walls?

Sandy Gopalan, Senior Vice President, Cognizant will also be there to talk about what solutions that can make an efficiency difference in global companies. Make sure to reserve your seat at Urban Deli in Stockholm or join us online
