Are you a hero or a memory?

The path to success is a constantly discussed topic among those trying to find the way to the top. However, if you ask Cognizant the roadmap should definitely include co-creation as a facilitator in driving innovation, gaining competitive advantages and sharing knowledge with clients.

That was one of the key conclusions on the 30th of January where ISS, one of the leading facility service companies in the world, hosted an event in collaboration with Cognizant Denmark showcasing the Cognizant Co-Creation Center.

There is a thin line between being a hero and being a memory”, Optimus Prime, Transformers character by Hasbro. With this quote Malcolm Frank from Cognizant framed the big challenge for businesses – Do you want to lead your company to the front of the line or do you want a Wikipedia-article on how to be a business has-been?

While the answer to the question is a given, the path to success is a constantly discussed topic among those trying to find the way to the top.

The event took place in the new global headquarter of ISS in Søborg and was visited by current and potential Cognizant clients who listened to presentations from Malcom Frank, Executive Vice President, Strategy & Marketing, from Cognizant and Kenth Kærhøg, Head of Global Communications, from ISS.

It was kicked off by Thomas Djursø, Senior Client Partner, Cognizant Denmark. He gave a short introduction to Cognizant and the Co-Creation Center explaining how organizations can gain competitive advantages by focusing on innovation and co-creation with clients. To underline his point Thomas Djursø stated that 55.393 of Cognizant’s employees had generated 134.242 ideas and implemented 19.171 of these for nearly 400 clients in just one year!

While innovations have changed the world for centuries, innovation itself is now changing. That is the reason for developing the Co-Creation Center where developers and stakeholders can work together and stimulate the joint innovation process by learning from case studies from global brands that have used new methods and social technologies to innovate and manage innovation.

Data & Digitalization
Malcolm Frank took stage with his presentation “Innovation – managing at the crossroads” that offered both entertaining and inspirational tips and advice on how to maneuver in a market where new technology is changing commerce.

By using former industry leaders such as Nokia, Kodak and Blockbuster as examples he argued that even though the demand for a core service might increase, such as mobile phones, pictures and movies, companies will be left behind if they’re not able to fully embrace digitalization as a means to drive business.

The constantly growing amount of data and the ability to manage and utilize it will be a key battlefield in the future years as the amount of data managed in 2020 is expected to increase by 50 percent and IT-professionals by 1,5 percent compared to 2013, Malcolm Frank noted while explaining the emergence of Code Halo as central to companies like Facebook and Netflix when profiling and personalizing their services to users.

The final presenter, Kenth Kærhøg, Head of Global Communications at ISS, wrapped up the afternoon by illustrating how ISS’ new headquarter is built and designed with Co-Creation in mind to stimulate innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Finally, the participants were able to have a look at the Cognizant Co-Creation Center, offered a tour of the ISS headquarter and treated to an informal wine tasting and American tapas dishes in the co-creating spirit of the event and to show our guest a bit of the proud American spirit of Cognizant.
